Sonia Cooper, President
Sonia's
sister has Type I diabetes, and her son was diagnosed when he was
1 1/2 years old. She has two other children participating in prevention
trials. She has been actively donating, fundraising, studying and
reviewing Type I research projects for ten years. She previously
served on the ADA and JDRF boards and helped to review research
grants for the JDRF. She has a B.S. in Finance and an M.S. in Systems
Management from the University of Southern California.
Marc H. Blatstein, National Vice-President of Fundraising
Marc was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at age 10 in September of 1960. He is a past President of the Philadelphia Chapter of JDRF and is presently a board member of the State of Pennsylvania Diabetes Stakeholder's Committee. In addition, Marc co-founded the second national diabetes mail-order pharmacy in 1990. He has spent the last 20 years actively fundraising and promoting motivation, education and awareness in the diabetes field, both in the United States and Israel. He has created community outreach programs and appeared on numerous television and radio programs advocating the "Can-do's vs. the Can't-do's" of diabetes. Marc has contributed his personal experiences with diabetes to various national publications and websites. At the present time Marc is a first-degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and has used this art to instill confidence and the "Can-do" attitude in youngsters each year at the annual Children with Diabetes Conference.

Ellen H. Ullman, Vice President of Research
Ellen's
son Zachary was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 15 months of age.
She created a website KidsRPumping.Com to empower parents of children
with diabetes to learn about pump therapy in children. Ellen and
her family have actively supported diabetes research since Zachary's
diagnosis in 1989. Ellen feels strongly that it is incumbent upon
parents of children with diabetes to raise awareness and research
dollars to cure Type 1 diabetes.
Matt Lynett, Treasurer
Matt's
son wears an insulin pump and formerly played football for the University
of Northern Colorado. His son is currrently interning in Washington,
DC for a US Senator. Matt is President of the Denver Wells Fargo
Community Banks. He and his wife Ruby have been actively working
to raise money to cure Type 1diabetes and previously served as the
President of the Rocky Mountain JDRF chapter.
Lauren Lanning, Secretary
Lauren's
daughter was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at the age of 2. She
previously worked in the technology industry but now volunteers
all of her time helping find a cure for diabetes and helping others
deal with it. |
