The CWD Foundation receives a significant contribution from the acquisition of Children With Diabetes by Johnson & Johnson
April 30 , 2008 - The CWD Foundation has received a significant contribution from the acquisition of Children with Diabetes by Johnson & Johnson, which will allow us to fund promising human clinical trials to prevent and cure type 1 diabetes. Our focus will continue to be on human clinical trials which will prevent T1DM in the future by supporting prevention trials as well as human clinical trials to ultimately cure those who currently live with the disease. Promising trials considered for funding will show promise for a long term solution. Our funds will go towards studies which are:
1) efficacious
2) safe, and
3) afffordable
Some examples are:
Omega - 3 fatty acid intervention studies in pregnancy and youth
Cord blood and autologous stem cell transplantation (not embryonic)
Encapsulated porcine islet cell transplantation
